CPSC Strengthens Ties via Academic Participation and Missions in Malaysia

CPSC provided important contributions in advancing TVET in the Region as the Director General of CPSC, Dr. Mohammad NaimYaakub and Prof TJ Tesoro Gayondato fulfill their role as Presenters and Forum Panelists in the International Seminar on TVET: Training, Business and Governance Models held on 28-29 September 2011 at Shangri-la Putrajaya Hotel in Malaysia. CPSC's presentation focused on "National Policies Linking TVET for Economic Development and TVET Best Practices in the Asia Pacific Region". CPSC's position as Institutional Expert for the joint consultancy for Jordan VTC Restructuring was also affirmed through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the University Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia (UTHM) and Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC).

The following are the other major activities accomplished during the 5-day official mission by the CPSC Director General and his faculty team, Prof. TJ Tesoro Gayondato, in Putrajaya, Malaysia.

  1. Meeting with Special Officer to Minister of Higher Education, Malaysia, Mr. Firdaus bin Mohammad on 26 September, apprising him on CPSC activities since July 2011, including the planned Joint International Conference by UNESCO-UNEVOC, GIZ, CPSC and MOHE, Malaysia in December 2011.
  2. First and Second Meetings, on 27 and 29 September respectively, with the Department of Polytechnic Education (DPE) on the co-hosting of the International Conference on Developing TVET Educators for the Next Generation attended by Mr. Abdul Karim bin Jaafar and Mr. Mohammad Amin, Director and Deputy Directors respectively of Staff Development Division, Ms. Diana Ahmad Busra and Ms. Azlina, Assistant Directors of the same division, Ms. Halmiza of the International Relations and Policy Division, Ms.Zainah Rujihan of the Industrial Liasion Division, Ms. Masimawati and Ms. Umi of the Policy Development Division. Detailed planning requirements of the conference were discussed leading to a systematic implementation of the Conference cum EduExpo in December 2011 which is being jointly organized by UNESCO-UNEVOC, GIZ, CPSC and MOHE-DPE, Malaysia.
  3. Discussion on the International Masters Program in TVET on 30 September together with UTHM, University of Bremmen, CPSC, SEAMEO VOCTECH, and Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia.
  4. Courtesy Visit on 30 September to Vice Chancellor of Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Tan Sri Professor Dr. Sharifah Hapsah Syed Hassan Shahabuddin where CPSC Director General discussed the APACC flagship proposal, apprisal of CPSC and its activities, efforts to expand membership, quality systems conference in the University of Santo Tomas, Philippines, and the International Conference for Next Generation Educators from 07-09 December 2011 in Malaysia.
