On September 1 to 2, 2011, CPSC’s Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) visited the Kabasalan Institute of Technology (KIT) located in Zamboanga Sibugay, Philippines to assess its compliance to the APACC standards for accreditation purposes. Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, Faculty Specialist of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), led the on-site visit as Team Leader while Dr. Renato M. Sorolla, Coordinator of UNESCO UNEVOC Center in Western Visayas and College Professor, Western Visayas College of Science and Technology (WVSCT), Philippines was the team member and co-accreditor.
Visit activities included the Opening Program attended by the APACC Team, KIT Team headed by the Vocational School Administrator II Mr. Edgar Cadavedo, TESDA Provincial Director of Zamboanga Sibugay Dir. Lorenzo Emanuel L. Guillermo, representatives from the local government, industry partners, and other stakeholders. The validation of the Self-Study Report through interviews, observations, document inspections, and tour of facilities ensued. At the end of the visit, the accreditors came up with a summary of commendations and affirmations, and provided the institution with some recommendations for improvement.
KIT is a technical training institute being supervised by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA). It aims to provide effective training for the development of technically skilled and educated individuals, highly competent and morally upright for occupational excellence. KIT offers thirty two (32) Certificate Programs.
Results of the visit will be sent formally to KIT after the affirmation of the Philippine National Coordinator for Accreditation in the Philippines.
