APACC conducts on-site visit to TESDA-NCR’s Quezon City Lingkod-Bayan Skills Development Center

As the Asia-Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC)continues to heighten its accreditation and certification activities, various on-site visits in the Philippines are underway which include an on-site visit to the Quezon City Lingkod-Bayan Skills Development Center (QCLBSDC) from July 11 to 12, 2011.The APACC team led by CPSC Faculty Specialist, Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, from Bangladesh as APACC Team Leader with Team Member Fr. Wieslaw Michal Dec, SDB, Professor of Don Bosco Center of Studies,from Poland, conducted the two-day visit to QCLBSDC, Quezon City, Philippinesto validate and evaluate the center's eligibility for certification and accreditation to APACC.

QCLBSDC is a technical education andskills development center under the purview of the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), National Capital Region (NCR), Philippines, created by the Philippine Republic Act 7796 which declares the state policy to relevant, accessible high quality and efficient technical education and skills development. The visit commenced with an opening program lead by the Officer-in-Charge of the QCLBSDC, Mr. Juan R. Asuncion, together with his team, Mrs. Marivic A. Ramos, Administrative Officer, Mr. Roberto A. Villaranda, Trainerand Mr. Peter Caguica, Trainer. The whole team welcomed the APACC Team and the TESDA representatives. In his welcome and opening remarks Mr. Asuncion remarked that, "we have now come to the final phase of our APACC journey, the on-site visit for the APACC audit and validation. This is the time where all our efforts and sacrifices are going to be evaluated and validated by our distinguished APACC accreditors".

A tour and an ocular inspection of the premises and facilities ensued after the brief program where various training competency areas and facilities were shown to the APACC team which included the Computer Laboratory, Library, Biomedic Equipment Laboratory, Mechatronics, Electronics, Language Teaching Area, and many others. This was followed by an interview and a review of the center's systems, procedures and documentations to examine its adherence to APACC criteria.

TESDA officials composed of its Regional Director and Chairperson, RD Nenuca Tangonan, Dir. Yerma Saulon, QCDO, Dir. Luisita Dela Cruz of Manila, Dir. Elpidio Mamaril, Jr. of CAMANAVA (Caloocan, Malabon, Navotas, Valenzuela) Areas, Dir. Cecilia Amaro of MuntiParLas-Tapat (Muntinlupa, Parañaque, Las-Piñas,-Taguig, Pateros) Areas and Dir. Ma. Lourdes Villanueva of PaMaMarisan (Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, San Juan) Areas were all present for the entire duration of the on-site visit to showtheir strong support to QCLBSDC. CPSC Staff namely Ms. Adrienne Abril, Projects and Consultancy Assistant, and Mr. Rae Echaveria, Research Assistant comprised the APACC Team and provided support in the facilitation of the visit.
