The Director General, together with senior staff of CPSC, attended a two-day seminar on Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) organized by the Higher Education Leadership Academy (AKEPT) of the Ministry of Higher Education of Malaysia from 11th to 12th July 2011.
Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, Director General; Prof TJ Tesoro Gayondato, Manager, Projects and Consultancy Division and Chair, Research, Publications and Information Division; and Ms. Kenneth Barrientos, Executive Secretary, CPSC; joined more than 20 higher education administrators and faculty members in understanding Blue Ocean Strategy (BOS) application in education and training; learning about the various tools and techniques in shifting from the red ocean to blue ocean, determining value innovation and charting institutional strategy canvass. The team had an opportunity to map BOS in line with CPSC functions and service orientation and to share global and regional perspectives to other delegates.
The seminar provided highly-engaging learning experience to all the participants who attended, representing various line functions of the MOHE. BOS, having started as a corporate strategy, is now finding its strategic use in the public sector by suggesting to raise the value curve of an organization at decreased costs. CPSC advocates BOS in TVET institutions with an end view to initiate more innovations, open up an uncontested market in TVET and tap non-customers presently without access to TVET programs.
AKEPT, established to provide leadership development for top and mid-level management of Malaysian higher education institutions, extended the training in cooperation with the University Sains Malaysia, hailed as APEX University (Accelerated Program for Excellence) in Malaysia.
AKEPT has the vision to be acknowledged as the global benchmark and referral centre for Higher Education Leadership, Teaching and Learning, and Research and Innovation. AKEPT, under the leadership of Datuk Prof. Dr. Roziah Bt. Omar, Director, has a line up of various leadership trainings throughout the year.
