CPSC DG Attends Colombo Plan’s 63rd Anniversary Celebration in Colombo, Sri Lanka

The Colombo Plan Secretariat celebrated its 63rd Founding Anniversary on July 1, 2014 at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Notable personalities including the CPSC Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub attended the auspicious event. The anniversary celebration was addressed by the Colombo Plan Secretary General Mr. Kinley Dorji Chairman of the CP Council and Ambassador of Indonesia to Sri Lanka H.E. Harimawan Suyitno and Sri Lankan Minister of External Affairs Prof. G.L. Peiris. The Minister’s speech encapsulated the history of the Colombo Plan and its contribution to Sri Lanka and other member countries, and vice versa.

Well-wishers from different partner/donor organizations and institutions from different member countries of the Colombo Plan attended the event and shared with the men and women of the Colombo Plan Secretariat the joy of commemorating their beginnings and evolving service to their stakeholders.
Sixty three and still counting - the anniversary celebrations highlighted Colombo Plan Secretariat’s strong resolve to continue fulfilling its mandate through carrying out programs, whether in poverty alleviation, gender issues, education and training on drug addictions and many others that will benefit its stakeholders. The Colombo Plan Staff College, being its specialized agency remains and always in solidarity with CP’s pursuits of economically and socially developed Asia Pacific region.
CPSC extends its warm congratulations and best wishes to the Secretariat on its 63rd Anniversary.
