A visit and benchmarking activity by the ICT personnel of the Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) was welcomed by the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) on January 29, 2016.
CHMSC, eyeing to set up their own blended learning management system that will revolutionize their approach in the delivery of lessons and instructional materials for the students, conferred with CPSC's ICT team and observed how the College's LMS was established.
The benchmarking visit was also an integral part of CHMSC's goals towards adapting to new technologies that will further improve students' classroom experience. This opportunity is made possible through the fruitful cooperation of the current president of CHMSC who was a former CPSC Faculty Specialist, Dr. Renato Sorolla, and CPSC headed by the Acting Director General, Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel.
Dr. Krislan Ong, CHMSC ICT Director and Engr. Ruel Malapitan, CHMSC ICT Officer were part of the team who visited the staff college and were warmly assisted by Prof. Dr. G. K. and Mr. Felix Sibal, ICT Officer who addressed their questions particular on the blended learning management systems of CPSC.
Mr. Sibal shared with CHMSC some of the intricacies and details of CPSC's learning management system called OnCOURSE (Online Course Ubiquitous Real Time System of Education). He demonstrated how the system is used and how it operates in order to prepare the CHMSC representatives to the challenges that may arise during its implementation in their systems.
CHMSC representatives expressed their optimism that they will be able to adopt CPSC's best practices in initiating, implementing and managing blended learning approach in delivering instruction with hopes of integrating them in their own systems in the future.
CPSC and CHMSC further shared information on ICT systems and practices along with some other collaborative activities that may be implemented in the future in affirmation of the strong partnership between the two organizations.
