The Acting Director General, Prof. Dr. G. Kulanthaivel, attended the 288th Colombo Plan Council Meeting on April 29, 2016 at the Cinnamon Grand Hotel in Colombo, Sri Lanka. He represented the college as an observer and as a specialized agency of the Colombo Plan, CPSC is constantly invited to Colombo Plan Council Meetings from time-to-time to witness the proceedings. Colombo Plan Council meetings are mostly attended by heads of diplomatic missions of CP member countries represented in Sri Lanka.
The Council took up eight agenda items including the preparation for the 45th Consultative Committee Meeting to be held in Fiji in September 2016. CPSC will also be invited to participate in the said event.
During his trip to Sri Lanka, the Acting DG also met several notable personalities during the event. The Acting DG had the opportunity to meet and interact with the Colombo Plan Secretary General Mr. Kinley Dorji and the President of the Colombo Plan Council H.E. Mr. Chang Won-Sam, Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Sri Lanka who also graced the occasion.
On April 29, 2016, the Acting DG paid a courtesy visit to the office of the CPSC Liaison Officer for Sri Lanka Mr. J.A. Ranjith. He is the currently the Director General of the Department of Technical Education & Training (DTET), the main agency of TVET in Sri Lanka. Both officials discussed the current trends in TVET and agreed on ways on how CPSC could address the gap between the current TVET state and the expected level of TVET development in the country. They also discussed ongoing programs and activities of CPSC and Sri Lanka's role in the achievement of CPSC's goals and objectives.
