CPSC, in partnership with the Technical Cooperation Directorate, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Singapore, jointly organized the TVET Programme for Principals and Leaders at the Institute of Technical Education (ITE) Central Campus, Singapore from February 24 to 28, 2014. The program was conducted under the Singapore Cooperation Programme of the Government of Singapore and delivered by the ITE Education Services. Twenty (20) representatives from countries such as Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Fiji, India, Malaysia, Maldives, Mongolia, Myanmar, Nepal, Philippines, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Thailand attended the program.
The program provided an overview of Singapore’s Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Systems and shared ITE’s experience in its TVET strategic planning and delivery, which consist of the following elements:
a. Overview of TVET and the education system in Singapore;
b. Technical education college management in response to the changing needs of industries;
c. Approaches in TVET to curriculum design and development, pedagogy model and training, educational technology,student development and management as well as assessment system; and
d. Site visits to Institutes of Technical Education and other tertiary education institutions in Singapore.
CPSC was represented by Dr. Naim, CPSC Director General together with Ms. Casey Joan Alvarez (Acting Team Leader, TDD) while the Government of Singapore was represented by Ms. Pearle Kuan, Assistant Director, Technical Cooperation Directorate, MFA and Ms. Kee Yun Chin, Senior Manager from ITE Education Services.
