Thirty-eight (38) office personnel of the Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi (RMUTT), Pathumtani, Thailand availed of the Colombo Plan Staff College’s capacity development program on English communications skills enhancement from February 5-9, 2018.
The Customized Program on English Training for RMUTT Personnel was held in Thailand and the first of its two parts, with the second Part to be held in the Philippines from March 5 to 9, 2018. Selected participants from Part 1 will be given opportunity to continue enhancing their English communication skills in CPSC’s host country, the Philippines.
Gearing up towards the ASEAN goals, Thailand is in full swing into internationalization of its personnel through improving their communication and presentation skills using the most widely used language - English. In view of this, RMUTT tapped CPSC’s capacity building expertise on the area by virtue of the memorandum of agreement which bound both organizations into mutual cooperation for educational development and capability building through various programs and projects.
The program aimed to: understand the need to learn the English language as professionals in a global world; build and gain confidence in communicating using the English language; develop, improve and increase use of the English language in the workplace; and enhance English speaking and writing skills as office personnel.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Natha Kuptasthien, Assistant to the President for International Relations, RMUTT welcomed the CPSC team and conveyed her appreciation to CPSC for designing a program specifically addressing the need for capacity development of the university personnel. The professor personally witnessed the culminating activity whereby the participants delivered some presentations. She expressed delight on the outcome and acknowledged the improvement of the staff participants as they started to build their self-confidence and familiarity in using the English language. She hopes that after the Part 2 program in the Philippines, the RMUTT staff will be more conversant in the language.
The program was facilitated by Ms. Arlene Cruz, Training and Development Officer, CPSC who acted as Coordinator and Mr. Ivan Burcer, Director, BIZCORE Business Center of Resource Empowerment who delivered presentations and facilitated the sessions as Resource Person and Facilitator.
