Background

Quality assurance (QA) is indispensable for the advancement of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) systems worldwide. By ensuring industry relevance, enhancing employability, standardizing accreditation processes, fostering continuous improvement, meeting global standards, building stakeholders’ confidence, and addressing skills mismatches, QA mechanisms play a pivotal role in creating a skilled workforce equipped to meet the challenges of the 21st-century economy. It is imperative for policymakers, educators, employers, and other stakeholders to prioritize and invest in quality assurance initiatives to unlock the full potential of TVET in driving socio-economic development and promoting sustainable livelihoods.

Accreditation serves as a hallmark of quality assurance within the realm of TVET. It is a systematic process through which institutions, programs, and qualifications are evaluated against predetermined standards to ensure quality, relevance, and credibility.

The Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) APACC is a regional accreditation and certification body established through the CPSC Seoul Declaration 2004, conceived by the Colombo Plan Staff College for Technician Education (CPSC). It aims to accredit and certify the TVET institutions for human resources development through the standardization and harmonization of education and training systems which will facilitate the mobility of the workforce across national borders in Asia and the Pacific region. Recognized for its rigorous evaluation processes and adherence to international standards, APACC plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality and credibility of TVET institutions and programs.
