The CPSC Director General Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub delivered a presentation on the topic "Skills for Green Jobs: TVET Sector Response" during the 1st National Technical Education and Skills Development (TESD) Congress held on August 29, 2012. The Congress, held at Le Pavillion, Pasay City, Philippines was organized by the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and Technical Vocational School Associations of the Philippines (TEVSAPHIL).
During his presentation, the Director General focused on addressing the issues on providing skills for green jobs. Among the solutions discussed are understanding sustainability and green economy, funding for green economy, learning about green jobs, identifying knowledge, skills and attitudes, and learning outcomes for green jobs, and guiding and monitoring education and training institutes in responding to the growing demand for sustainable technologies.
The one-day activity, which involved prominent officials from the education, labor, industry and other Philippine government agencies and international organizations, generated a resolution that will serve as a blueprint to uplift the skills of Filipino workforce through strategic initiatives including skilling them for green jobs.
