One of the many initiatives in Thailand to improve quality and relevance of TVET programs to the world of work is to develop entrepreneurial education in TVET to reduce dependency on work provided by others. In view of this, the Royal Thai government through the Office of the Vocational Education Commission (OVEC), Thailand and CPSC organized the In-Country Program on “Entrepreneurship Education in TVET” from March 12-16, 2012 at Angthong Technical College, Angthong, Thailand.

The program focused on two modules namely Entrepreneurship Education in TVET System and Model of Promotion of Entrepreneurship Education in TVET. At the end of the program, the participants were able to gain understanding of the needs and importance of entrepreneurship education in TVET; identify the issues and challenges of entrepreneurship education from the perspective of Thailand; apply innovative models and approaches for linking entrepreneurship education to TVET; and comprehend social entrepreneurship in TVET sector.

Special lectures, tasks, paper presentations and dynamic experience sharing and discussions enabled 31 administrators, department heads, curriculum developers and teachers to capture key points, innovative ideas and strategies in drawing their action plans to improve TVET systems in the country. Interestingly, out of the 31 trainees, 27 were females showing more active involvement of women in the field of TVET.

Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, CPSC Director General and Dr. Chaipreuk Sereerak, Secretary General, OVEC, Ministry of Education, Thailand, led their teams in the smooth implementation of the program as Program Supervisors and Co-organizers.

CPSC Faculty Specialist, Engr. Md. Jahangir Alam, who also acted as Coordinator and Resource Person of the program with Ms. Maturode Sumranpon, Chief of External Relations Section, OVEC who served as Local Coordinator, ensured efficient facilitation and successful conduct of the program.
