Ms. Sandy Montano, Co-founder and Vice President of CHEERS (Community Health, Education, Emergency Responsive Services), visited CPSC on October 30, 2013 to introduce her organization’s services and discuss potential collaboration with the Staff College.
CHEERS is a private, registered company that provides training on Emergency Medical Services and Occupation Safety and Health with International and Local Certification. Co-founded by a person (Ms. Montano) who survived from a disastrous earthquake, CHEERS envisions itself to be a world class provider of Emergency Medical Services in the Philippines that is at par with the international standards, and aims to increase the awareness of the public on safety and health.
CPSC Director General, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub commended CHEERS for its remarkable efforts in offering training programs on safety and health, as well as partnering with other private and government institutions in providing emergency assistance and services to disaster victims. DG Naim took note of some of the programs offered by CHEERS, such as In Case of Emergency (ICE) training, which would prepare students during disasters; and Workplace Innovation on Safety and Health (WISH) training, which would advance the employment opportunities of students; as possible areas of collaboration. The signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between CPSC and CHEERS was also discussed to formally establish ties.
