The Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities of Industrial Technology (PACUIT), Inc. continued to facilitate exchange of new ideas and convergence of experts in the industrial technology sector with the successful conduct of the 16th PACUIT National Conference held from April 24 to 26, 2018 at the Nature’s Village Resort, Talisay City, Negros Occidental.
This year’s conference, which carried the theme, “Strengthening the Workforce for Jobs in the Globalized Society”, had Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) as one of PACUIT’s institutional partners.

As host of the conference, Carlos Hilado Memorial State College (CHMSC) President Dr. Renato Sorolla welcomed the participants and explained the importance of such gathering in coping with the requirements of the fourth industrial revolution. Incumbent PACUIT President and Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U) President Dr. Raul Muyong, on the other hand, gave the opening message to 215-strong participants. He stressed the importance of strengthening and reinventing the workforce in order to be successful in this age of global economy. Talisay City Mayor Hon. Neil Lizares also graced the opening ceremony and challenged participants to continuously improve themselves to exceed expectations of stakeholders from the educational sector.
The conference had plenary lectures and 20 parallel sessions, which are divided into 5 sessions where 79 experts presented their research papers on the following research clusters: 1) management, instruction and other issues; 2) electrical, electronics, ICT and mechanical technology; 3) food processing, packaging and other issues.

Along with equally competent keynote speakers and presenters, CPSC Director General Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane delivered a lecture on Industry-Academe Partnership in Outcome-Based Curriculum Development while CPSC Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant Dr. H. Chithral Ambawatte talked about Re-Engineering Technical Education and Training for Sustainable Development.

Participants also saw the renewal of partnership between CPSC and PACUIT as Dr. Ram and Dr. Muyong signed the Memorandum of Agreement during the conference.
