Background

One of the current focus of CPSC is sustainable development in CPSC training programs. This development is possible on transformative change in the training delivery process. What does “transformative change” mean in the context of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)?

On the other hand, due to the current COVID -19 situation in Manila, CPSC has suspended its operations and allowed work from home. Therefore it is important to introduce WEBINAR in CPSC and conduct training programs online.

A webinar is an online seminar that turns a presentation into a real-time conversation from anywhere in the world. Webinars allow large groups of participants to engage in online discussions or training events and share audio, documents or slides – even when they’re not in the same place as the meeting host or in the same room where the event or presentation is taking place.

The fourth / fifth proposed webinar topic is Revised Taxonomy of Learning Domains and its Implication in TVET. Bloom's Taxonomy is a good heuristic for teachers to understand the varying levels of cognitive, psychomotor, and affective domain that teachers have as outcomes for students. It also helps with assessments in terms of matching assessment items to the level of learning objectives.

Bloom's taxonomy serves as the backbone of many teaching philosophies, in particular, those that lean more towards skills rather than content. These educators view content as a vessel for teaching skills. The emphasis on higher-order thinking inherent in such philosophies is based on the top levels of the taxonomy including analysis, evaluation, synthesis and creation. Bloom's taxonomy can be used as a teaching tool to help balance assessment and evaluative questions in class, assignments and texts to ensure all orders of thinking are exercised in students' learning, including aspects of information searching.

Action verb describes what someone or something is doing or will do and animates a sentence either physically or mentally and use for defining and Writing Learning Objectives / Outcome, determining levels of educational setting and very important for developing competency Standard and the curriculum.



Focus

This webinar on “Revised Taxonomy of Learning Domains and its Implication in TVET” aims to provide an online training for CPSC member country’s participants; Based on an analysis of the Anderson and Krathwohl (2001) revision of Bloom's original 1956 taxonomy namely Anderson's revised and restructured Bloom’s Taxonomy that omits several points within the cognitive dimension and changed taxonomy words from nouns to verbs. Again Philip T. Beckwith, formulate a new version of Taxonomy for higher order cognitive thinking skills in 2018. These new version of taxonomy and proper use of corresponding action verbs are very important in educational settings like curriculum development, writing goal and objective and setting questions for students assessment. These essential pedagogy aspect needs to be share with TVET teachers, trainers, educators and curriculum developer through this webinar so that it can be applied in respective development and practice arena of TVET.
