Background
The global impact of Covid-19 is multifaceted and is clearly manifested in almost all sectors, particularly the health, economic and education sectors. Since the announcement of the virus as a pandemic in March 2020, there have been a plethora of daily reports on its impact on the lives of millions across the world. Accordingly, every country’s primary concern has become to diminish the spread of the virus and alleviate its effects on the society in general, and the most vulnerable communities in particular.
In April 2020, a rapid assessment survey was conducted by the ILO-UNESCO-WBG on TVET and described the current state of TVET during COVID-19 period. In this report, current TVET trends highlighted and stated that the TVET sector should have 4E (E-Content, E-Learning, Education Technology and Entrepreneurship).
Technology has become an increasingly important part of students’ lives beyond school, and even within the classroom it can also help increase their understanding of complex concepts or encourage collaboration among peers. Because of these benefits, current educational practice suggests that teachers implement some form of technology in their classrooms – but many teachers face difficulties in doing so. Cost, access, and time often form considerable barriers to classroom implementation, but another obstacle is a lack of knowledge regarding how technology can best be used to benefit students across diverse subject matter.
In this context, Colombo Plan Staff College is planning to organize a webinar on “Use of Mentimeter for Learner Centered Learning''. This webinar will be dedicated to CPSC member countries TVET practitioners to build the capacity on how to use Mentimeter to teach and connect remotely with your students. Learn how to create a presentation, what question types are particularly useful for teachers and how to share it with your students. The other objective of the webinar is to share Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK) and Substitution, Augmentation, Modification, and Redefinition (SAMR) Models to enhance teaching and learning process. The online collaborative tools help to engage learners through innovative presentations. After completion of this webinar, the participants are able to create and setup their own mentimeter presentation. Furthermore, understand the concept and importance of TPACK and SAMR models. The outcome will be aligned with different interpretations and expectations of digital innovation concept from the various stakeholders’ perspectives.

Resource Speakers
Engr. Abdul Ghani Rajput is currently working as a Faculty Specialist in CPSC. He is a experienced and visionary TEVT expert with more than 12 years diversified experience in making TEVT/HRD policies, institutional framework and implementation of skills development plans with local and international organizations. He has developed a training manual on Industrial Revolution 4.0 in TVET sector as well as manual on Instructional Design for E-Learning Courses. He is a certified Competency-Based Training and Assessment Trainer and Vocational Counselor. His experties inculde Capacity Development of TVET Stakeholders, Employers Engagement and Project Management.
He was the Director (MIS) of Sindh Technical Education & Vocational Training Authority (STEVTA) and worked as a Focal Person for TVET Sector Support Programe, implemented by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) Pakistan. He has been playing key roles in policy and institutional development with NAVTTC and training providers for making TEVT demand led. He has been interacting with various local & international organizations including ILO, World Bank, GIZ, British Council, MTC International USA, Skills International and City & Guilds, UK etc. He has transformed existing supply-based system to demand-driven through Competency-Based Training (CBT) at STEVTA. He presented a paper on "Curriculum Delivery in line Industrial Reveloution 4.0" as keynote speaker in 3rd International Conference and 17th National Conference of PACUIT - Leading the 21st Century Generation Towards a Globalized Industrial Technology on 25 April 2019, Manila Philippines.
He served as a Technical Advisor, Human Resource Development for the GIZ TVET Sector Support Programe for five years. He was responsible for supporting the relevant training providers and enterprises in the selected sector to establish a coordination framework for planning and delivering training under the framework of the National Qualifications Framework (NVQF). He has been playing a key role in the implementation of training for principals, teachers, instructors, assessors and certification of Sindh Trade Testing Board (TTB).
Engr. Rajput is a Professional Engineer of Pakistan Engineering Council and earned his MSc in Information System Engineering from the University of Twente, Netherlands (2009-2011). He studied Master of Engineering in Communiation Systems Networks from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, Jamshoro, Pakistan (2005-2007) and his bachelor in Computer System Engineering (1999-2002) from Hamdard University, Karachi Pakistan.
Dr. Muhammad Mujtaba Asad is serving as an Assistant Professor and Lead Researcher of Educational Technologies and TVET Research at Sukkur IBA University, Pakistan. Dr Mujtaba has national and international working experience of more than 15 years in the industrial and educational sector in the domain of Educational Technologies in TVET, Work & Product-Based Industrial Education and Competency Based Education in TVET. Dr. Mujtaba has published more than seventy (70) research articles (ISI & Scopus Indexed) in reputed international journals and conferences worldwide. Also, two books related to the observational skills of competent educators and Innovative technologies in 21st Century Education under the CS and T&F publishing house USA are in his publication credit. He has also received several best researcher awards in international TVET research and development completions with seven in Malaysia, Korea, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan and UAE on his commercialized projects.
Moreover, Dr. Mujtaba is also an active member of Seven (7) national and international research grants. Dr. Mujtaba is also an internationally certified TVET educational technologist (Malaysian Board of Technologist) and holds certifications and qualification in industrial safety and health education from NIOSH and OSH Department of Ontario, Canada. He is also serving as an Editorial Board Member to twelve (12) reputed and indexed international journals. Dr. Mujtaba also holds several international Copyrights and has filed one Product Patent under the title of HAZFO Expert 1.0 for Drilling Operation. He had been awarded an honorary lifetime International Ambassadorship by Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia based on his academic achievements and community services. Dr. Mujtaba has also been awarded the title of approved PhD and MPhil/MS supervisor by Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in the field of TVET.
