Private and public technical vocational institutions and training centers/colleges joined the virtual training on Research Methodology in TVET from ApriI 12-16, 2021 organized by the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) via Zoom. The program facilitated sharing of knowledge and skills on research methodology which include developing research proposal and preparing research questionnaire. The participants were mostly composed of vocational school administrators, deputy directors, supervising technical education and skills development (TESD) specialists, professors, instructors, and head teachers from varied TESDA and Don Bosco technical vocational institutions (TVIs), provincial training centers and technical colleges in the Philippines.
Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, CPSC Director General, Program Supervisor and Resource Person, in his welcome speech, during the opening ceremonies congratulated the participants and their institutions, TESDA and Don Bosco, for their commitment to research in the TVET endeavors by participating in the program. He emphasized the importance of research as the backbone of any TVET system, such that it is important to integrate research in its core activities in order to provide quality, relevant and market-driven TVET delivery and services.
Engr. Abdul Ghani Rajput, Program Coordinator and Resource Person, in his vote of thanks, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm displayed by each participant through their active interaction with the resource persons through exchange of ideas, inquiries and sharing of experiences on their research efforts throughout the sessions. He further said that with such interest of the participants during the program discussions, the research capacity in each of their institution is ensured to flourish and reap fruitful results.
Other Resource Persons also included, Mr. Sanyog Bhattarai, CPSC Faculty Specialist and Mr. Rae Emmanuel Echaveria, CPSC Research, Publications and Information Division Officer who both shared specific techniques on research with the participants.
CPSC invited research expert from Malaysia, Dr. Ramlee Mustapha, who also actively engaged all the participants on his discussions on “How to Conduct Research in TVET”. He is currently the Director of University-Community Transformation Centre at the Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI), Malaysia. He is also the Chairman of the Asian Academic Society for Vocational Education and Training, Malaysia.
Through the program CPSC visualizes a more active and enriched research culture in the TESDA TVIs and Don Bosco training centers and that would prove to be beneficial to their organizational goals.
