Considering the present scenario of widespread workplace risks and hazards that are more exacerbated by the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Colombo Plan Staff College tapped its experts to organize a webinar on Occupational Safety and Health on June 17, 2021. A total of 195 TVET practitioners logged in the webinar.

In TVET, Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) is an interdisciplinary activity concerned with the prevention of occupational risks and hazards inherent to each occupation. OSH programs objectives are to: (1) Secure the health, safety and welfare of employees and other people at work, (2) Protect the public from the health and safety risks of commercial activities and (3) Eliminate workplace risks and hazards. This webinar session is designed to provide concept and knowledge on occupational safety and health, its management in TVET institutions, and need of OSH training to the students. It will also provide knowledge on different subject-wise safety measures & health and provide subject-wise good practices found in the TVET institutions.

The presentations focused on the following topics: (1) Occupational Health & Safety: Vital Spark of TVET delivered by Dr. Ramhari Lamichhane, Director General of CPSC and (2) Occupational Safety and Health in TVET by Engr. Sanyog Bhattarai, CPSC Faculty Specialist. The session was moderated by Engr. Abdul Ghani Rajput.
