A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Colombo Plan Staff College and the International Cultural Communication Center Malaysia (ICCCM) on March 30, 2021. The signing was streamed virtually and was conducted in their offices in Manila and Kuala Lumpur, respectively.
Through initial meetings and presentations, CPSC and ICCCM recognized the possible program and projects that both organizations can conduct jointly for the benefit of their stakeholders. A consensus was reached to formalize the partnership through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding indicating the areas of collaboration, and the potential activities that CPSC and ICCCM can undertake.
The partnership was embarked on and finalized to explore opportunities to conduct joint activities pertaining to the human resource development for CPSC’s member countries and its staff. It was also aimed to promote relations and mutual understanding between both institutions
Representing CPSC is the Director General, Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe and the team leaders of each division. On the other hand, ICCCM was represented by Ms. Loo Hui An, the Regional Director of ICCCM; Mr. Benjamin Leong, Head of the International Department, ICCCM, as well as their officers.
In his opening speech, Prof. Wickramasinghe affirmed the importance of this partnership particularly the opening of opportunities for scholars, and possibly CPSC staff members, to avail of training programs in China. Meanwhile, Ms. Loo expressed his optimism on this linkage as a way to further strengthen their ties with the Philippines and the rest of the CPSC member countries.
ICCCM was established in 2009 with the aim to be recognized as an international cultural exchange center in Southeast Asia and to be an information platform for the Asian region. The current focus of the organization is to offer educational programs such as Joint Diploma, Dual-Diploma, or Dual-Degree Programme, Vocational Training and Development Programs through its partner institutions in China.
