To commemorate the five decades of achievements and milestones of the Colombo Plan Staff College, a Golden Jubilee Reception was held in Dusit Thani Manila, Makati City last December 4, 2023.
The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs Secretary, Honorable Enrique A. Manalo graced the celebration as Chief Guest. He led the CPSC Governing Board Members of CPSC composed of Ambassadors and Mission representatives from the embassies of Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Thailand in the Philippines.
Armed with the theme Navigating the Future of TVET: Addressing Challenges and Fostering Positive Change, the event was also joined by Ambassadors and Mission representatives from the embassies of Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Laos, New Zealand, and Saudi Arabia in the Philippines. The event also gathered former Directors and Director Generals of CPSC; representatives from the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), Philippines, and the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), Philippines. Joining as well are members and representatives of CPSC liaison agencies from its 16 member countries, CPSC developmental partner agencies, invitees from the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC), and former CPSC faculty members and staff.
Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Secretary Enrique Manalo, graced the Golden Jubilee reception as the Chief Guest and delivered his keynote speech highlighting the timely significance of developing technician education and training in the country. In addition, TESDA Deputy Director General for Special Concerns, DDG Vidal Villanueva III also addressed the reception on behalf of the TESDA Secretary General.
The anniversary dinner reception also highlighted the launching of the CPSC’s anniversary coffee table book titled COLOMBO PLAN STAFF COLLEGE Navigating the Future of TVET: Empowering Generations for Sustainable Progress. The book encapsulates commemoration of the CPSC’s five decades of achievements and milestones in enhancing TVET in the Asia Pacific Region.
Lastly, the event served as a platform to confer the awards and tokens of congratulations to APACC’s Platinum Accreditation Awardees - KKTM Masjid Tanah, Malaysia; Politeknik Ungku Omar, Malaysia; Politeknik Port Dickson, Malaysia; and TESDA Women’s Center, Philippines. CPSC’s former Directors and Director Generals were also among those recognized during the event.
