The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) on January 25, 2024 conducted the 116th Governing Board Meeting attended by the members and representatives of the CPSC Governing Board for FY 2023-2024 led by the CPSC Governing Board, Ambassador of Papua New Guinea in the Philippines. Dr. Benjamin Reyes, Secretary General of the Colombo Plan Secretariat, Sri Lanka, attended the meeting virtually as a member of the Board. Heads of Missions and country representatives from the embassies of Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Myanmar, Pakistan, PNG, the Philippines, Singapore, and Thailand attended the meeting.
The Board unanimously congratulated and expressed appreciation to the Director General and CPSC team for the success of the Golden Jubilee reception and the International Conference held in commemoration of the 50th CPSC Anniversary on December 4, 2023. The Ambassador of Pakistan, H.E. Dr. Imtiaz Kazi conveyed his personal gratitude and congratulations specifically to the CPSC Director General, Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe and GB Chairperson, H.E. Betty Palaso for gathering all the GB members, member country representatives and guests especially the Chief Guest-Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs Hon. Secretary Enrique Manalo in one grand event.
Presided by the GB Chairperson, H.E. Ambassador Palaso, assisted by the Representative of the GB Vice Chairperson from the Philippines, Mrs. Janet Abasolo and CPSC DG Prof. Wickramasinghe, the Board discussed the following key agenda items: (1) adoption of the 115th Governing Board Meeting minutes held on June 27, 2023; (2) CPSC’s mid year accomplishments including highlights from the recently conducted CPSC 50th anniversary celebration; (3) updates on the recruitment and selection process for the 13th Director General of CPSC; and other matters concerning the fiscal management of CPSC.
In addition, Ms. Ma. Corazon Enriquez from the Valdes, Abad & Co. CPAs presented to the Members the results of the recently conducted external financial audit for FY 2022-2023. The report highlighted CPSC’s general compliance with its financial rules and regulations. Prof. Wickramasinghe also discussed some of the training programs and activities lined up for the second half of the fiscal year (January to June 2024). The next Governing Board Meeting is set to be scheduled in June 2024.
