In view of strengthening and expanding its network by establishing linkages among developmental partners, the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) formally signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Indian Institute of Technology Ropar (IIT-Ropar), India on April 29, 2024. The ceremony was conducted online and was signed by CPSC Director General, Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, and IIT-Ropar Director, Prof. Rajeev Ahuja, respectively. CPSC Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant, Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, Executive Secretary, Mrs. Arlene Cruz, Training Officer Mr. Vergel Dela Paz, and Research Officer Mr. Paulo Anthony Mendoza served as witnesses to the ceremony from CPSC while International Relations Department Associate Dean Dr. Atharva Poundarik, Deputy Registrar, Mr. Pradeep Kumar, and Office Assistant Ms. Milandeep Kaur, attended the virtual signing from IIT-Ropar.
IIT-Ropar is a public technological institute in Rupnagar, located in the state of Punjab in India. It is one of the IITs established by the Ministry of Human Resource Development in 2008. The institute offers both undergraduate and graduate courses in various fields of engineering, mathematics, and natural sciences. It also boasts of its strong research in interdisciplinary areas such as artificial intelligence, robotics, and renewable and clean energy.
The MoU aims to explore potential areas of opportunities for collaboration between the two parties, on programs, events, projects, and activities that will equip CPSC and IIT-Ropar stakeholders with relevant skills in TVET. Prior to the formal signing of MoU, the Staff College, through the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research, Chandigarh (NITTTR-Chandigarh), has engaged with IIT-Ropar for study visits and benchmarking activities during the implementation of its training programs.
