The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) together with the Council for Technical Education and Technical Training (CTEVT) and Labtech International Ltd. trained 19 electrical teachers, instructors, trainers, and department heads from various TVET institutes in Nepal through the Online In-Country Program on Training of Trainers on Renewable Energy System Using Virtual TVET conducted from July 1 to 4, 2024 via Zoom platform.

The goal of the program was to provide the participants with a thorough understanding on the principles of renewable and green technology components through the use of interactive 3D models in virtual learning courses.The four-day online training was implemented under the supervision of Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe, CPSC Director General; Dr. Steven McKee, President and Founder of Labtech; and Er. Mahesh Bhattarai, CTEVT Member Secretary.

The opening ceremony was inaugurated on July 1, 2024. During his opening remarks, Prof. Wickramasinghe welcomed the participants and distinguished guests from Labtech and CTEVT. Mr. Ian Andrew, Consultant and TVET Specialist of Labtech, also delivered some welcome remarks on behalf of Dr. Steven McKee. In his message, Mr. Andrew hoped that the participants would enjoy the training and would gain valuable insights that they can apply in honing their skills. Meanwhile, Er. Bhattarai extended his appreciation to CPSC, CTEVT, and Labtech for organizing the online training for Nepal.

Lectures and workshops in session

Lectures and workshops revolved around the topics on blended learning approaches in TVET, the utilization of green technology system simulations, and preparation of lesson plans using virtual TVET. These sessions helped the Nepalese participants obtain key information on the TVET learning management system (LMS) and digital TVET framework in relation to various renewable energy systems.

The training program concluded with a closing ceremony wherein a participant was selected to give some feedback about the program. The participant also thanked Mr. Andrew and Mr. Brad Ker, Director Digital Programs of Labtech International for consistently guiding them throughout the sessions. Furthermore, the Program Summary was presented by Mr. Brad Ker as he reiterated the important points of the training and walked through the evaluation results. Lastly, Prof. Wickramasinghe and Er. Bhattarai delivered their respective closing remarks and congratulated the participants for completing the four-day online training.
