The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) hosted a simple and heartwarming farewell dinner on August 22, 2024 dedicated to Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe in honor of his commitment and service to the Staff College during his three-year directorship tenure. Prof. Wickramasinghe formally left his post as the 12th Director General on August 31, 2024.

The Farewell Dinner was filled with gratitude, heartfelt messages, and recollection of good memories shared by the current and former Local Staff together with Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, CPSC Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant. A farewell video was also presented to look back on Prof. Wickramasinghe’s leadership, achievements, and contributions to CPSC’s undertakings. Some of the remarkable achievements attained by the Staff College during his tenure include the successful celebration of CPSC’s 50th Anniversary and the publication of the special anniversary book on December 4, 2023. Prior to this, Prof. Wickramasinghe meritoriously spearheaded the formulation of the CPSC’s Strategic Plan 2023-2028 beginning with the National Consultation Workshop in Manila; the Experts Meeting in Malaysia; and the Senior Executive’s Conference in Thailand all held during the last quarter of 2022. He has also strengthened CPSC’s international linkages and partnerships by conducting courtesy visits to the embassies and liaison offices of CPSC’s active and inactive member countries. Most importantly, his leadership saw the implementation of a total of 109 in-service training programs and projects in CPSC.
Furthermore, as the Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) President, Prof. Wickramasinghe simultaneously continued to pursue quality assurance of TVET institutions and was able to award 4 Platinum awards to three institutions in Malaysia and one institution in the Philippines.
Likewise during the farewell ceremony, Prof. Wickramasinghe expressed his warmest thanks to the CPSC Faculty and Local Staff as he recounted some great experiences and opportunities given to him throughout his term in the Staff College.
Prof. Wickramasinghe received a Plaque of Recognition and some tokens of appreciation from Dr. Kesavan and the CPSC local staff members. All CPSC Staff cheered and gave a toast wishing good luck to the outgoing Director General for his future endeavors.
