The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Director General Prof. G.L.D. Wickramasinghe received a Plaque of Commendation from the Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) Secretary for Foreign Affairs (SFA) Hon. Enrique A. Manalo during a courtesy visit held August 28, 2024 at the DFA Office, Pasay City, Philippines.

The plaque of Commendation highlights Prof. Wickramasinghe’s “exceptional leadership and commitment to excellence as the CPSC Director General and has steered CPSC towards enhanced levels of institutional soundness, success and influence. His efforts have solidified the Staff College’s distinction as a Center of Excellence in human resources development through TVET, serving as a testament to the transformative impact of south to south cooperation and fostering stronger ties between the Philippines and the broader Asia-Pacific region.”

During the courtesy visit, Prof. Wickramasinghe submitted his 3-year Accomplishment Report to Secretary Hon. Manalo. He thanked the 12th Director General for all his achievements for CPSC including all his collaborative efforts and consistent cooperation with the DFA and with the entire diplomatic community. He further emphasized that Prof. Wick’s enhanced visibility in the diplomatic community proved to be positive and fruitful for south to south cooperation which widely reached more beneficiaries in the member countries and even extended to the pacific region.

Prof. Wickramasinghe likewise thanked the DFA Secretary and his team for the pleasure of the visit and for the solid support to CPSC and to his leadership. He specifically mentioned DFA’s hard work and full attention to the drafting of an updated Memorandum of Agreement between the Philippines and CPSC and for all the assistance in all the concerns and endeavors of the College.

Secretary Manalo congratulated the 12th Director General and wished him well going back to his home country Sri Lanka as he ends his term on August 31, 2024. The DFA team composed of Assistant Secretary Teresa Almojuela, DFA-Office of United Nations and International Organizations (DFA-UNIO), and Ms. May Ofrasio, Desk Officer, Socio-Cultural Division, DFA-UNIO , who were also present during the visit likewise congratulated and wished the CPSC DG good luck on his next endeavors and promised to continue DFA’s smooth working relations with the College.
