The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC), in collaboration with the National Institute of Technical Teachers Training and Research (NITTTR) Chandigarh, India, and the Department of Polytechnic and Community College Education (DPCCE), Malaysia, successfully hosted an International Webinar on the Strategic Management Approach in TVET Domain on December 17, 2024. A total of 80 TVET practitioners and academicians attended the webinar held via Zoom platform.

The webinar was inaugurated by the CPSC Director General, Prof. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, wherein he warmly welcomed the participants as well as the resource speakers from India and Malaysia. Prof. Dhameja also provided a brief significance of strategic management in the context of Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

The international webinar featured Dr. Harsh Vardhan Samalia, Associate Professor at Entrepreneurship Development and Industrial Coordination (EDIC) Department in NITTTR Chandigarh; and Dr. Norhayati binti Ibrahim, Director for TVET Coordination Division at DPCCE, Malaysia.

During the session of Dr. Harsh, he discussed the key challenges in TVET education and presented how a strategic management approach can help in addressing it. He also presented how the PESTLE (Political, Social, Economic, Technological, Legal, and Ecological) framework can be used as a tool for understanding and navigating the TVET ecosystem.

Meanwhile, in Dr. Norhayati's session, she provided valuable insights into DPCCE’s strategic management journey within the TVET sector, focusing on the goal of producing "Holistic, Entrepreneurial, and Balanced Graduates." Her discussion also highlighted six key elements for an effective implementation of strategic management in TVET.

To wrap up the webinar, the participants expressed their interest in the topics and engaged in a question-and-answer forum, which was moderated by CPSC Governing Board-Engaged Faculty Consultant Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen.
