
A meeting between the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training (CIAST) was conducted on February 24, 2025 at the CPSC office in Pasig City, Philippines. The meeting aimed to explore new collaborative areas and gain insights into CPSC’s operations, programs, and best practices, which will support CIAST in enhancing its training initiatives and institutional strategies.
The meeting was attended by the following CIAST delegation: Mr. Jamil bin Yahya, Deputy Director; Ts. Dr. Norhayati binti Yahaya, Head of International Training Unit; Ts. Nazrim bin Tan, Head of Electrical, Electronic & Telecommunication Unit; Mr. Iskandar bin Kamarudin, Head Program Coordinator (Teaching and Supervision Improvement Unit); Ts. Abdul Hadi bin Kasmoni, Head Program Coordinator (Management); and Ms. Esther Cheng, Advisor, Japan International Cooperation Agency - Malaysia Office.
Meanwhile, the CPSC team, led by Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, Director General, was composed of Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen, Faculty Consultant; Prof. Naeem Yaqoob, Faculty Specialist; and Mrs. Arlene Cruz, Executive Secretary during the meeting.

The meeting was inaugurated with welcome remarks from Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja, CPSC Director General, and a response from Mr. Jamil bin Yahya, CIAST Deputy Director. This was followed by some presentations on the programs and activities of CPSC’s Training and Development Division (TDD), Projects and Consultancy Division (PCD), and Research, Publications, and Information Division (RPID).
Furthermore, both teams discussed possibly conducting collaborative regional programs and International Skills Competitions, opportunities for Faculty and Student Exchange to enhance learning and teaching experiences, and exploration of a tripartite program with CIAST and the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The Centre for Instructor and Advanced Skill Training is operating under the Manpower Department, Ministry of Human Resources of Malaysia, and is a Gold-Award APACC accredited institution.
