Universiti Malaysia Pahang Al-Sultan Abdullah (UMPSA), a public technical university in Pahang, Malaysia, successfully completed its first accreditation to Asia Pacific Accreditation and Certification Commission (APACC) from March 19 to 21, 2025.

The three-day on-site visit was conducted by the designated APACC accreditation team namely, Prof. Dr. Ramakrishna Challa as Lead Accreditor, Dr. Kesavan Ulaganathen as Member Accreditor, and Ms. Chyna Lorania as Documentation Officer.

The accreditation process commenced with an opening ceremony, in which UMPSA Vice Chancellor Prof. Dr. Yatimah Binti Alias delivered her welcome remarks and provided a brief history of the University. In her message, she welcomed the APACC delegation and expressed her hopes for UMPSA to become the first public university in Malaysia to be APACC-accredited. She also reaffirmed UMPSA’s commitment to academic excellence and human resource development. Following her speech, Ms. Lorania introduced the esteemed accreditation team while Dr. Ramakrishna and Dr. Kesavan delivered their special remarks.

APACC accreditation team conducts interviews with UMPSA management and faculty members, and visits UMPSA’s facilities

Throughout the three-day evaluation, the APACC accreditation team conducted interviews with UMPSA management and faculty members to validate the evidence submitted in accordance with the seven APACC criteria on (I) Governance and Management, (II) Teaching and Learning, (III) Human Resources, (IV) Research and Development, (V) Image and Sustainability, (VI) Other Resources, and (VII) Support to Students. The accreditation team also visited UMPSA’s facilities, and interviewed some students and personnels to further validate the evidence.

In the exit meeting, Lead Accreditor Dr. Ramakrishna, presented the partial qualitative results, which included commendations, affirmations, and recommendations (CAR) identified during the evaluation activity. To conclude the three-day evaluation, UMPSA Deputy Vice-Chancellor Prof. Ir. Ts. Dr. Ahmad Ziad Sulaiman congratulated UMPSA on successfully completing its first cycle of accreditation with APACC. He also expressed his appreciation to APACC for their invaluable support in UMPSA’s journey of continual improvement.
