CPSC has the mandate to improve the quality of technician education and training in the Colombo Plan region (now widely referred to as Asia and the Pacific region) by meeting the need for technician teacher educators and trainers and senior staff in technician education who can play a more active part in in-service training and staff development programs.
CPSC provides various forms of training programs. These include:
In-Country Programs (ICP)
ICPs are core programs of CPSC identified in line with the specific needs of each of the participating country of CPSC. They are usually organized in the country and are done on an annual basis. CPSC extends its technical expertise and services and at the same time keeps itself abreast with the current training needs of the member countries through ICPs.
Proposal for ICP is usually developed and submitted by focal ministries along with the purpose on the basis of the program thrust areas which are determined in consultation with the member countries and in line with the approved Corporate Plan of CPSC.
Regional Program (RP)
RPs are core programs of CPSC. Topics are identified as a common need among all CPSC member countries and are openly deliberated upon by senior administrators and experts during the Corporate Planning exercises of CPSC. The College conducts at least 6 RPs every year. Participation in RPs is based on fellowship. CPSC invites nomination from all member countries and are, accepted as fellows upon approval of nomination by the CPSC head. CPSC bears all expenses of the fellows based on CPSC practices and rates.
Customized Programs
Customized programs and courses are programs identified based on an immediate need of local and/international clients. As the name suggests, customized programs are exclusively designed to answer specific training needs of a specific target group. Participation in and organization of customized programs are on a fee-paying scheme and is borne by the requesting institutions from CPSC member or non-member countries.
Consultancy Services
Consultancy programs are programs organized in fulfillment of a contract and are designed based on the Terms-of-Reference (TOR) provided by the client. CPSC enters into consultancy engagements within the scope of its expertise as an income-generating effort to augment resources.
