Upon the invitation of Rajamangala University of Technology Thanyaburi’s (RMUTT) President, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Numyoot Songthanapitak, Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, Director General of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) attended the International Forum on “The Role of Technological Universities and Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) to cope up with Sustainable Future Workforce” to talk about the Human Resources Development for TVET Teachers: Career Progression Through Merit of Excellence.
The event, which aims to identify and strengthen the role of technological universities to support and enhance TVET institutions, was held on January 18, 2013 at the RMUTT Mangkla Ubol Conference Room. RMUTT’s 38th Anniversary was also celebrated during the international forum.
Several high ranking officials also addressed the gathering such as the Dr. Nantana Gajaseni, Executive Director of ASEAN University Network; Prof. Dr. Feng Xiao, Chairman of the Steering Committee of Regional Cooperation Platform on Vocational Teacher Education and Training in Asia (RCP); Dr. Thomas Schroder, Director of RCP Secretariat; Dr. Alias Haji Abu Bakar, Centre Director of Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organization, Regional Centre for Vocational and Technical Education and Training (SEAMEO VOCTECH); and Mr. Gwang-Choi Chang, Chief of the Education Policy and Reform Unit, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education.
A Thanyaburi Statement was generated as an output of the forum co-signed by the RMUTT President, CPSC Director General and the above-mentioned officials. Salient points of the agreement includes the agreement to intensify cooperation and exchange of best practices in the field of VTE for the improvement of TVET systems and enhancement of on-going integration processes in the East- and Southeast-Asian region.
