The Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) and the Ministry of Education of the Government of Maldives collaborates to conduct a Special In-Country Program titled “Champion Leaders Development Program for TVET Skills for Poverty Alleviation” slated on March 31 – April 4, 2013 at Maldives Polytechnic, Male, Maldives. The program is funded by the CPSC-India project on Skills Development for Poverty Alleviation.
The said training program benefits a total of 25 participants from different technical institutions in Maldives in strengthening their capability to formulate plans, design and implement programs in their respective localities on different aspects of poverty alleviation through TVET skills.
On March 31, 2013, the CPSC Director General, Dr. Naim Yaakub, delivered the welcome remarks to the participants, witnessed by Engr. Jahangir Alam as Program Coordinator, Ms. Aminath Asra, as the local coordinator and Mr. Abdullah from the Maldives Qualification Agency.
The CPSC DG delivered a Special Lecture on “Champion Leaders Program on SDPA” during the first day. The topics discussed include Promoting TVET Skills for Poverty Alleviation; Generic Skills for Employability; and Stimulating Technical & Social Entrepreneurship Skills for Poverty Alleviation. After the program, the participants will be able to appreciate the significance of TVET skills in the context of poverty alleviation; elucidate diverse approaches to employability through TVET skills and Generic skills development; integrate entrepreneurship programs for addressing poverty alleviation; formulate TVET skills development modular programs and strategies; and develop action plans to undertake initiatives for poverty alleviation through TVET skills.
