In a double mission to the Oceana and Pacific region, the Director General of the Colombo Plan Staff College (CPSC) Dr. Naim Yaakub first visited Adelaide, Australia to explore collaborative projects between CPSC and the National Centre for Vocational Education Research (NCVER) on April 23, 2013. Both organizations also seized the opportunity to sign a Memorandum of Understanding. From Adelaide, the DG of CPSC travels to Fiji to attend a CPSC-Fiji In-country Program on ICT in Education which includes a National Seminar.
On the former mission, NCVER and CPSC have initiated intention to work as partners in 1997 under previous leadership. Upon assuming charge, Dr. Naim continued to renew linkages with development partners especially in the field of technical and vocational education and training (TVET).
The DG and Dr. Tom Karmel, NCVER Managing Director signed on behalf of respective institutions, witnessed by Ms. Sue Fergusson, General Manager of Research and Ms. Renee Edwards, Executive Assistant of NCVER.
The MOU serves as an agreement between the parties to exchange information on the system and structure of vocational education and training, training reforms and new educational technologies; exchange educational literature and research materials and promote the use of research through respective clearinghouses and bibliographic databases; and participate in other areas of cooperation in the field of vocational education and training to be mutually agreed upon.
The MOU, which is valid for five years, is hoped to jump start the identification of concrete collaborative programs for mutual benefit of CPSC and NCVER stakeholders.
