The In-country Program on Public Private Partnership kick-started with a seminar on “PPP- the New Dimension of Industry-Institution linkages – Trends and Practices. Datuk Mohlis Bin Jaafar, Director General of Department of Polytechnic Education was the chief guest on the occasion and he officially declared the In-country program and seminar open. Dr. Mohammad Naim Yaakub, Director General of CPSC, in his inaugural speech, highlighted the contributions of CPSC to its member countries and appreciated the strong support from Malaysia through the Department of Polytechnic Education during CPSC’s 40 years of existence. He also emphasized the mutual dependency of TVET institutions and industry / employers in preparing the required type of workforce for the nation. Hence, the choice of the theme for this year’s program.

The roster of speakers for the seminar included Hji Datuk Mohlis bin Jaafar, DG Department of Polytechnic, Dr. Mohammad Naim DG CPSC, Mr. Mohd Farid Bin Turimin, Director Development and Marketing, Naza Academy Malaysia, Mr. Arzil Imran Mazlan, Principal Assistant Director, PPP Center of Excellence, Prime Minister’s Department, Putrajaya Malaysia. Datuk Mohlis highlighted the new direction of DPE through Polytechnic Transformation Plan Phase 1 & 2. Datuk Mohlis also shared the partnership with Petron Malaysia, Siemens Pvt ltd for Robotics education as public private initiatives of DPE, Malaysia. Dr. Naim explained the Industry Academe linkages concepts, forms of partnerships and potential barriers in forging strong and sustainable linkages. Mr. Farid explained that subsidiaries of NAZA

Academy that ranges from Car and Motorcycle manufacturing to Food & Beverages and real property business. The training academy of NAZA is partnering with community colleges and will be open to polytechnic for partnership in related areas. Mr. Arzil Imran explained the government policy on PPP and the projects so far implemented and that are in the pipeline. He explained the general guidelines and areas of possible cooperation under the PPP legal and administrative framework. The Q&A session generated enthusiasm and good exchange of ideas regarding the topic of PPP in focus.
