The Colombo Plan Staff College Director General (DG) Prof. Dr. Suresh Kumar Dhameja paid a courtesy visit to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) in New Delhi, India, on December 12, 2024. Additional Secretary Mr. Viraj Singh (DPA II, IV) and Undersecretary Ms. Garima Jain (DPA II) were delighted to personally meet the Director General who also hails from India.

Prof. Dr. Dhameja shared about CPSC to the MEA officials, its objectives, programs, projects activities and varied achievements, including its various In-Country and Regional Programs, the most recent of which was held in Bhopal from November 11-15, 2024. The CPSC Director General expressed his desire to strengthen the long-time partnership between the college and the Government of India particularly the education sector.

In pursuing collaborative efforts with India, the DG discussed his proposal for joint endeavors that may be implemented in the areas of business start-ups, innovations and other similar scopes. Such programs may provide a platform for capacity enhancement or exchange of expertise and experiences at the regional level that will gather TVET professionals or enthusiasts from the CPSC member countries.

The MEA officials expressed positive response to the proposal and requested the DG to submit the details of the proposal to the Ministry and they will review its potential for a full-blown program or project.

The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), founded in 1946 as the Ministry of External Affairs and Commonwealth Relations, is India’s government authority on managing the country’s foreign policies and external regulations. The Development Partnership Administration (DPA) is an agency within MEA tasked with handling India’s foreign aid projects.
